What is the difference between an IV infusion giving set and a blood transfusion giving set?

Answer

An IV infusion giving set is the standard administration set used to deliver IV fluids/medicines. A blood transfusion giving set is specifically designed to deliver blood or blood components and incorporates a standard 170–200 µm filter; using an IV infusion set instead of a blood transfusion set for blood products carries a risk of serious harm.
